Author J.R. Minard, delighted a Zoom audience on December 1, 2019 with an inside view of “Coach in Cottage C”, a novel she wrote with co-author Rosemary Imregi. Her teaching experience in public schools and at the Job Corps assisted her in her quest to  get “inside” the heads of her main characters: a football coach, a rebellious young athlete, and a reform school administrator.

This piece of historical fiction is inspired by actual events that occurred at the notorious Dozier School for Boys located in the Florida Panhandle. It is a page turner designed for adults and older teens alike. Book clubs will no doubt find pleasure in discussing the similarities and differences between “Coach in Cottage C” and “The Nickel Boys” by Colson Whitehead.

J.R. Minard is a long time Florida resident who returned from West Virginia and now lives in The Villages in Sumter County.
